It was a night of beauty, glamour, elegance and fun when ten cute, sizzling hot, sexy and beautiful ladies from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology battled it out with the power of intelligence, talent and oratory at the Social Science Society Auditorium on Saturday, 8th February 2013.
The event dubbed, ‘Miss Knust’ was the first to be organised in such grand style in the history of the noble institution.
The show which kicked off at 9pm had the ladies competing in catwalk, talent show, oratory and question time sessions. It was a night filled with humour, cheers, jeers and tears as the daughters of eve put up rare but spectacular performances for the enviable crown.
The catwalk session presented all ten ladies doing their own thing on the run way amidst good banging music to create the rhythm and entertain patrons. One could see the audience nodding and tapping their feet as DJ Quest, the man for the night dropped hits after hits.
Then came the most entertaining and fun-filled segment, the talent show where the ladies displayed their rehearsed performances. Of course there were poetry recitals, news reading, song ministration but who ever thought ladies could enviably jump unto a DJ’s deck to scratch, wipe and drop songs from heavy weight rappers like Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne and even switch immaculately to our own Azonto tunes? One could only conclude, “Knust’s got talent!!!!”
If you ever doubted anything, not the intelligence of ladies, the talent show session was followed by the oratory segment where ladies spoke on topics such as beauty, malaria, and love among others exposing their deep rooted understanding of such topics.
Eventually the girls were separated from the ladies narrowing the competition down to five and after painstaking moments of answering tough, intellectually stimulating questions from the judges, Laura Ivy Kuffour was crowned Miss Knust 2013, Michelle Pambour, the 1st runner up and Brena Banks, the 2nd runner –up. The winners went home with rLGLaptops, wardrobe from Woodin and loads of prizes from MTN and Version Apricot. The clicks, flicks and snaps from the teaming photographers knew no bounds as each tried to get the best shot for their respective domains. However watsuptek.com got the best of shots and pictures can be downloaded from our Facebook page –watsuptek knust.
The story won’t end without the mention performances from Trigga and the gentleman who has proved to be Knust’s best dancer, Guyguy. More mention could also be made of a freestyle section which was going on at the forecourt of the auditorium by a young talented rapper called BFK, the man with the hardest swag. This dude could make anything music.
All in all the JCR executives of Africa Hall made the best out of their hall week celebration by crowning it with such a well-organized beauty pageant.
