BetWay Talent Search winners Announced

A football hunt initiative, Betway Talent Search aimed at discovering football talents in the upcoming footballers aged between 18 to 25. From this year’s edition of the Talent Search initiative, Betway Ghana, Ghana’s leading online sports betting company announced eight winners at the Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel in Accra.

About the Event

The former Black Stars captain, Technical c-ordinator of the national football team and the brand ambassador for Betway Ghana, Stephen Appiah is it’s lead coach. He was particularly enthusiastic regarding initiative as he himself was unearthed by Betway Talent Search and it is with this endeavour that he looks forward to uncover many more hidden talents like him in Ghana. He was keen on becoming a part of the initiative as it kept the football in Ghana constant. With new talents, the game is set to have improved quality.

The Talent Search team included the likes of Maxwell Konadu, Eric Antwi Ofori, and Twumasi Forkuoh.

How Winners were Picked

Betway took into everything when deciding who the best among all were. For that, they developed a systemic planning.

The core team travelled to different places like Tamale, Cape Coast and even around Accra scouting for 24 talented footballers from which they shortlisted 8 winners who earned for themselves a six – month contract with four premier league clubs in Ghana that was sponsored by Betway.

The closing ceremony that was held at Lizzy Sports Complex included the presence of officials from Liberty Professionals Football Club, Ashanti Gold Sporting Club, Medeama Sporting Club and Aduana Stars. They could choose their preferred players during the ceremony. From the 24 players, each club could choose two players which meant having eight winners.

Who Were the Winners?

Holyfield Djanie, Clement Boahen, Richard Osei and Dodzi Mensah were chosen by Liberty Professionals Football Club and Aduana Stars, respectively. Sylvester Simba and Stephen Dwanka were picked by Medeama Sporting Club. Second in the maiden edition of the Betway Talent Search, Douglas Amaning joined the Ashanti Gold Sporting Club.

Sylvester Simba, the winner of the entire Talent Search said in an interview that he was really excited and enthusiastic about joining a new club to perform to his full potential.

Stephen Appiah, however, believed in the quality of the young players after examining them for a five – week period as they showed a lot of promise in the game that they played.
