
Nigeria has confirmed the first case of the deadly coronovirus disease, across Sub-saharan Africa.
This was communicated by the country’s Federal Ministry of Health on Friday, after it was confirmed on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
The case involves an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and returned from Milan, Italy to Lagos, Nigeria on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, Health Minister Dr. Osagie Ehanire said in a statement on Twitter.
The Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed a coronavirus(Covid-19) case in Lagos State Nigeria. Dr. Ehanire adds that the patient is in stable condition, with no serious symptoms.
Prior to this, only two (2) coronavirus cases had been recorded on the African continent. The countries were Egypt and Algeria.
