YEA Job Centre Launch
The Government of Ghana, through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), will today launch the YEA Job Centre.
Held under the theme “Connecting the Youth to Job Opportunities”, it will be graced by Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the vice president of the Republic of Ghana.
Present at the launch will be Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah (Minister of Employment and Labour Relations), Samuel Awuku (Board Chair) and Justin Kodua Frimpong (CEO of YEA).
The YEA Job Centre is one of the three (3) initiatives the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is rolling out.
The YEA Job Centre will look at the compilation of a database of both employees and employers to create an avenue for both parties to feed and satisfy the need of unemployment.
The other initiatives include the:
- Artisanal Directory – This initiative in a bid to promote the entrepreneurial spirit among the youth will provide training for artisan jobs such as carpentry, hairdressing, tailoring etc. After the training they will be provided with start up capital and equipments to all trainees and also monitor their progress regularly.
- YEA Flagship Program – Taking a leaf out of the Planting for Foods and Jobs initiative, the YEA Flagship Program is the initiative for the provision of both food and livestock. Youth interested in Agriculture will be provided with land, input and ready market to sell their produce.
The YEA Job Centre urges private corporate institutions are encouraged to support/partner the Youth Employment Agency to solve youth unemployment in Ghana.
The launch will be held at the Bank of Ghana Auditorium inside the University of Ghana, Legon.
This forms part of government’s efforts to reduce unemployment among the youth in the country.
