Maiden Edition of AdinkraFest Officially Launched in Accra

The maiden edition of the annual AdinkraFest, a Ghana-Toronto Easter concert has officially been set in motion at an august ceremony in Accra.

In an era where tourism and culture continue to be a key driver of our socio-economic development, this festival comes timely, as it sets the right tone for reconnection with one’s heritage.

Speaking at the official launch on Tuesday afternoon, the Executive Director of AdinkraFest and Adinkrah Promotions Mr. Joseph Adinkrah outlined the purpose of the upcoming festival.

“AdinkraFest aims at bringing together Ghanaians in the Diaspora, especially in Canada, while showcasing our rich culture and tradition through music, dance, food, and cloth. We also ask for support from all so the goals set forth, can be realised,” he stated.

The festival is set for Saturday, 19th April, 2025 through to Friday, 25th April, 2024 with a lot of exciting activities, in Toronto, Canada.

The musical concert will host revered Ghanaian musicians — Samini, Bessa Simons, Nana Agyemang, Yaw Stone, and a host of others who are gearing up for enthralling performances.

Mr. Emmanuel Doe-Bruce who represented MUSIGA President Mr. Bessa Simons highlighted the need to offer all necessary publicity this festival may need.

“AdinkraFest is partnering with the Musicians Union of Ghana to Toronto, [Canada] and they are to move on 13th April, 2025. This is the maiden edition and we also urge all companies and media to help promote this special event to boost tourism in Ghana and across the globe,” he reiterated.

The Apagyahene of Asebu Traditional Area, Nana Obokese Ampah I who also launched the festival stated that “you cannot possibly define civilisation without their [Egypt] arts, music, and history. AdinkraFest has managed to put all of these together.”

“Often times, when you are outside Ghana, Christmas and Easter can be very boring so what this festival is doing is amazing. They are not just promoting Ghana, [but contributing to] the volume of our trade with Canada, Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) opportunities and tourism. They are also bringing Ghanaians abroad together, encouraging them and bringing Ghana to them,” he added.

Present at the press launch included, but not limited to traditional rulers, Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, and Jupitar.

The AdinkraFest 2025 is brought to you by Adinkrah Promotions and Canada-based Feed Them All, in collaboration with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), and sponsored by Yifan Business Services.
