Keeping spaces spotless nurture thriving communities and the rainy season affords everyone another reason to embrace this good course.
It is against this background that Ghanaian philanthropist Dawood Akwesi Agyemang popularly known as Big Dawood and his Let Love Lead NGO on Saturday, 14th June, 2025 embarked on its 3rd annual Sanitation Drive at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
At the vibrant business district where the tragic June 3rd Fire Disaster occurred in 2015, the selection of this location for the clean-up exercise was no random choice but underscores the urgent need for cleaner communities.
Joined by hundreds of volunteers, politicians, celebrities, business owners, and security personnel on this year’s drive, choked gutters were cleared, and streets were cleaned, using both basic and advanced cleaning equipment, ensuring a thorough and effective sanitation effort.
Speaking at the clean-up exercise, Big Dawood who is the Founder and Leader of Let Love Lead NGO acknowledged the overwhelming enthusiasm of volunteers while urging all to take on the initiative of cleaning our environment.
“The June 3rd [disaster] is a tragedy that we have to say no to it again. As citizens we must take initiatives in keeping our environment clean – we cannot wait for someone to come and do this for us. Let Love Lead NGO is assuring the general public that we will continue to serve fellow citizens and do the good work to make Ghana a beautiful place to live,” he urged.
The Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North Constituency Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni who represented the Greater Accra Regional Minister also noted that she is not surprised Dawood has selflessly dedicated himself for Ghana and noted that if we were all meeting each other halfway [by cleaning], there would not be disasters.
Musician Keche Joshua who is also a Board member of Let Love Lead charged all to be proactive when it comes to cleaning our environment.
“Cleanliness should be our lifestyle – we should not wait for people to die before we act. You wont loose anything if you tidy up your environment instead of dropping them in the gutters. Because when these gutters choke, the end result is flooding,” he stated.
Big Dawood through Let Love Lead also provided a heartfelt support to the victims of the fire disaster by distributing hampers to them, as well as packs of food.
Let Love Lead supports underprivileged children, people and communities with humanitarian needs, education, skill development, healthcare, sanitation and community development.
