Dbanj Arrested for Alleged N-Power Fraud

Dbanj has reportedly been apprehended for his involvement in N-Power fraud related activities.

The Nigerian singer real name Oladapo Oyebanji was arrested in Abuja by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC) operatives.

Dbanj was forced to surrender himself at the agency’s office in Abuja on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

Premium Times reports that the musician had evaded summons for several weeks, claiming to be abroad for scheduled concerts, anytime he is invited.

He is accused of diverting hundreds of millions of naira earmarked for the Government of Nigeria’s N-Power project set up in 2016 to address youth unemployment and related social issues.

Investigators allege Dbanj connived with some compromised government officials to submit ghost names and accounts to receive payments.

The stipends paid to these beneficiary accounts have since been identified as ones linked to the musician.

On arrival at the ICPC office in Abuja, he was subjected to a prolonged interrogation session after which he was detained. His plea for administrative bail was rejected by officials who said the musician could not be trusted to attend his trial if released on bail.
