Stop Negativity and Show Respect to Ronaldo – Mesut Ozil to Media

Mesut Ozil has slammed the media over what he terms the “constant negativity” targeting Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid star has been on the ‘chopping board’ of some media outlets for under-performance during this season.

Despite being the 37-year-old in most of Manchester United’s outings during the first half of this campaign, he still face the sharp knives of the media.

It is against this backdrop that the former Arsenal star believe its about time the media shun away from negative press about the man who will soon be 38-years-old.

Mesut Ozil makes this known in a series of tweets on Friday. It reads:

“I really don’t get where this constant negativity from the press about Cristiano comes from … The Media is just trying to get clicks, and pundits who don’t have a career anymore just want to get attention with his big name and try to make him look bad…:

He adds that “he [Ronaldo] is soon 38 years old – so what’s the surprise that he doesn’t score 50 goals a season anymore? Every football fan out there should be happy to have seen him playing world class football for 20 years.”

One of the greatest athletes ever in the history of sports, Cristiano Ronaldo is eulogized by Ozil who notes that no one from the new generation can match his numbers.

I don’t think anyone from the new generation will be able to match his numbers again. He will forever be in his own category. 🐐

Everyone should show more respect to one of the greatest athletes in sports history…

Ronaldo has so far scored 701 career goals, from 951 appearances.
