The United States Ambassador to Ghana Gene Allan Cretz has hinted that his country is poised to promote tourism and the cultural heritage of Ghana especially that of the Ashanti region.
The ambassador who is on a day’s working visit in the region first paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Regional Minister, Mr. Sam Yaw Adusei when he made this known.
“The U.S. is looking at working with the Ashanti region to preserve some of the traditional shrines and promote tourism,” he said.
The deputy regional minister also noted the strides the region is making towards ensuring the standard of living of people in the region acknowledging some of the challenges the region face – including illegal mining and logging which is threatening the environment..
During his visit, he will also call on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu, regional Chief Imam and tour the USAID project site in the region.
