Probably, she was sweating because she was nervous that patrons kept chanting DD, another contestant’s name when it was just the two of them on stage after Enam had been announced as the third place winner.
Doreenda, also known as Egyiriba beat 10 other contestants: Rhoda, Dolling, Abi, Bell, Naa, Nadia, B.B. Enam, P.M and Zion to win the crown at stake.
For her prize, she will receive a parcel of land from Sure Testimony Estates, a week’s stay in South Africa courtesy Season Travel and Tour and a year’s grooming service from Jubens.
Gifty Hammond aka DD, 28, a graduate of Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) came second and will take home a set of living room furniture from Blessed Suppliers, a week’s stay in South Africa, six months grooming service and hampers.
For coming third, Enam Sika Tetevi, 19, a past student of Ola Girls’ Secondary School will walk away with a fridge, hampers, three months grooming service and a week’s stay in South Africa.
That is not all, other prizes on the night were, the Most Hardworking award which went to Abi while P.M won the award for the Most Weight Loss. Miss Congeniality went to Nadia and Bell won Most Disciplined.
The well attended show started at 9pm with an introduction of all the 11 contestants. After the ladies introduced themselves and explained the projects they would be embarking on, they proceeded with their talent show.
The ladies came back on stage to do a choreographed dance and a circuit exercise which involves skipping, press-ups and other forms of aerobics.
After this segment, the judges wasted no time evicting Rhoda, Dolling, Abi, Bell, Naa, Nadia and Zion out of the competition.
The final four went through questions time from the judges—Emmanuel Armah, Mawuli Zogbeanu, Edwina Oppong, Ami Amewode and Bright Ofosu. And by the time they were through, it seemed the audience had already selected their winner.
D.D was the audience favourite as they responded very positively anytime the emcees of the event asked who the winner was.
On the whole, patrons went home very disappointed at the organisers, XL Productions for putting up a very poor show.
There was near complete equipment failure on a number of occasions during the five-hour event. And the emcees didn’t help the situation. It looked like they did not know what they were about. They never announced when they were going on break and came on stage when they were not needed there.
Musicians Nana Ama Sarfowaa, Dr Slim and Echo Charles who came to perform had to be called backstage a couple of times because of technical hitches and this hampered the music interludes which was supposed to added spice to the night.
