In June this year, ‘VGMA 2019 Best Rapper’, Medikal tweeted that ‘4 years ago, I saved Ghanaian rap music from dying and I promise to keep it alive’.
This tweet given a hostile welcome by many people who felt it was a wrong statement for him to make.
A little over a month now, Ghana’s most decorated musician and rapper Sarkodie has reacted to this for the first time.
According to the Sarkcess Music boss, the AMG Beyond Kontrol act has every right to say so.
“He genuinely feels like that; so he has to be able to say what he feels,” he told DJ Millzy in an exclusive on 4Syte TV.
Asked whether he feels Medikal disrespected him and other rappers, he bluntly said no.
Explaining further he used legendary Ghanaian rapper Obrafour as an example.
“When I’m rapping and I say I’m the best, I’m not thinking about Obrafour but I still see Obrafour as the one,” he said.
“So when I listen to Medikal talk about him I know its the same thing. He is not thinking that Sark is out of the way and I’m here. As a rapper you are supposed to feel like that,” he added.
Both Medikal and Sarkodie have collaborated before — with the former featuring the latter on his ‘Confirm’ remix, ‘Free Me’, ‘Connect’, and ‘How Much’. Sarkodie also featured Medikal on the ‘Trumpet‘ song.
They are also on the remix version to rapper Kwaw Kese‘s hit single ‘Dondo‘, among other works.
