Wizkid failed to show up for his advertised live concert scheduled for Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana capital on Saturday night.
Patrons who thronged the venue to witness the musician perform were left in despair following no signs of him taking up the stage.
Fans started leaving the venue at about 2.40am after noticing the signs of Wizkid not showing up, and he eventually did not.
It was after performances from Ghanaian acts Darko Vibes, Kelvyn Boy, Joey B, Smallgod Asakaa Boys, Lasmid, Efya, and Gyakie who were also billed to perform.
The Accra Sports Stadium is a 40,000 capacity, all-seater and just about 5,000 patrons made it to the venue.
Many have alluded the low turnout to ticket pricing and not promotion because it ran on a number of traditional and new media platforms in the country, including the media conglomerate of EIB Network, Media General, and Multimedia Group.
Tickets were sold at GHc250 ($20), and GHc600 ($46) for regulars, and GHc3,000 ($230) for VIPs.
Later in the day, the event promoters Live Hub had to share free event tickets to tertiary students after sales of tickets went down, despite earlier announcing its selling out quick.
The concert forms part of Wizkid‘s promotion of his “More Love, Less Ego” album and organisers Live Hub Entertainment had earlier in the day tweeted that he is in town for the concert.
Wizkid also tweeted earlier that “Accra Sports Stadium tonight!”, affirming his presence at his concert.
It took the MCs Kojo Manuel and Pocolee as well as DJ Tunez to turn up the place a bit until the energy finally die off and the dismantling of the stage setup started minutes after 4am.,
While some patrons ask for a refund, others believe he should also be banned from performing in the country and organisers sanctioned.
Wizkid is the first Nigerian artiste with a diamond certified record in US for “One Dance”, a song Drake featured him and Kyla on.

West Point, 1830. In the early hours of a gray winter morning, a cadet is found dead. But after the body arrives at the morgue, tragedy becomes savagery when it’s discovered that the young man’s heart has been skillfully removed. Fearing irreparable damage to the fledgling military academy, its leaders turn to a local detective, Augustus Landor (Christian Bale), to solve the murder. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, Landor enlists the help of one of their own to pursue the case, an eccentric cadet with a disdain for the rigors of the military and a penchant for poetry — a young man named Edgar Allan Poe (Harry Melling). Based on the novel by Louis Bayard, THE PALE BLUE EYE is directed by Scott Cooper and stars an acclaimed supporting cast, including Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Hadley Robinson, Timothy Spall and Robert Duvall.
It will premiere on Netflix on Friday, January 6, 2023.
4. KALEIDOSCOPE
Spanning 25 years, Kaleidoscope (previously titled Jigsaw) is an all-new anthology series following a crew of masterful thieves and their attempt to crack a seemingly unbreakable vault for the biggest payday in history. Guarded by the world’s most powerful corporate security team, and with law enforcement on the case, every episode reveals a piece of an elaborate puzzle of corruption, greed, vengeance, scheming, loyalties and betrayals. How did the crew of thieves plan it? Who gets away with it? Who can be trusted?
Loosely inspired by the real-life story where seventy billion dollars in bonds went missing in downtown Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy, Kaleidoscope consists of eight episodes spanning from 24 years before the heist to 6 months after.
The compelling crime anthology series takes a non-linear approach to storytelling, building intrigue and suspense uniquely, with Netflix members each having a different immersive viewing experience. Some members may start with certain episodes (like episodes “Yellow or “Green”), then move deeper into their own personal viewing order with varying episodes (“Blue” or “Violet” or “Orange,” followed by “Red” or “Pink”) until the epic “White: The Heist” story finale.
It premieres on Netflix on Thursday, January 1, 2023.
5. Sky Rojo Season 3
The new episodes will take place six months after the final battle. Coral (Verónica Sánchez), Wendy (Lali Espósito) and Gina (Yany Prado) discover that peace is nothing more than that deceptive feeling between periods of terror. When their new life is blown to pieces, the girls understand that the past always returns and that if they ever really want to be free, they’ll have to bury it. Or bury Romeo (Asier Etxeandia) - same difference.
It premieres on Netflix on Friday, January 13, 2023.
Mesut Ozil has slammed the media over what he terms the “constant negativity” targeting Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
The former Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid star has been on the ‘chopping board’ of some media outlets for under-performance during this season.
Despite being the 37-year-old in most of Manchester United’s outings during the first half of this campaign, he still face the sharp knives of the media.
It is against this backdrop that the former Arsenal star believe its about time the media shun away from negative press about the man who will soon be 38-years-old.
Mesut Ozil makes this known in a series of tweets on Friday. It reads:
“I really don’t get where this constant negativity from the press about Cristiano comes from … The Media is just trying to get clicks, and pundits who don’t have a career anymore just want to get attention with his big name and try to make him look bad…:
He adds that “he [Ronaldo] is soon 38 years old - so what’s the surprise that he doesn’t score 50 goals a season anymore? Every football fan out there should be happy to have seen him playing world class football for 20 years.”
One of the greatest athletes ever in the history of sports, Cristiano Ronaldo is eulogized by Ozil who notes that no one from the new generation can match his numbers.
I don’t think anyone from the new generation will be able to match his numbers again. He will forever be in his own category. 🐐
Everyone should show more respect to one of the greatest athletes in sports history…
