DW Akademie is Hiring Program Director for Ghana Office

We are seeking a Program Director (f/m/d) DW Akademie Ghana Office based in Accra, Ghana to start in August 2023 or as soon as possible based on a full-time local staff contract limited until 31 December 2024.

YOUR CHALLENGES

  • Program Director and strategic steering of overall Ghana projects and further development of the country strategy and, if applicable, of regional approaches
  • Representation of the DW Akademie Ghana Office, including being responsible for local staff coordination, project administration and accounting, crisis management and knowledge management
  • Consulting and management of media development programs in coordination with other cooperation partners
  • Support and in-depth consulting for partner organizations on technical and administrative issues
  • Responsible for monitoring, evaluation of projects and reporting to donors
  • Coordination with donors and other stakeholders within media development
  • Responsible for acquisition strategy for international donor funding and proposal writing
  • Responsible for overall budget planning and management, accountability and controlling
  • Responsible for finances including payments in cash and via bank transfer, request for funds, petty cash management
  • Assuring legal compliance to rules and regulative frameworks for the operations of an international subsidiary (“external company”) in Ghana

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in communication, journalism, development studies or other relevant fields
  • 7+ years of professional experience in the field of freedom of expression and media development, especially in the field of training and consulting
  • Journalistic professional experience
  • Solid expertise in topics of media development cooperation, in-depth knowledge of
  • Media Information Literacy, Media Viability, Journalism Education an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of strategic approaches and working methods in bilateral and multilateral development cooperation
  • Profound knowledge of the human rights approach
  • Excellent knowledge of the media situation in Ghana and the West Africa region
  • Perfect knowledge of English, knowledge of German an advantage
  • Communication, collaboration as well as negotiation skills
  • Creativity, flexibility, and ability to prioritize and work under pressure
  • High level of intercultural competence and respect for diversity
