Two of Nigeria’s entertainers Tiwa Savage and Basketmouth have cancelled their respective shows scheduled for this month in South Africa.
This follows the barbaric xenophobic attacks in the southern African country citizens from fellow African countries are being killed.
The multiple award-winning songstress who was billed to perform at the DStv Delicious Festival in Johannesburg on Saturday, September 21, noted that she will no longer perform at the festival as a result of the attacks.
She tagged it as “the barbaric butchering” while adding that the unfortunate development is sickening.
“I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is SICK. For this reason I will NOT be performing at the upcoming DSTV delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September. My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this,” she tweeted on Wednesday morning.

In a related development, comedian Basketmouth who was billed to perform at the 2019 South African Comic Choice Awards this weekend has called his performance off.
“I am not sure how and when we got here. I won’t be attending the Comics Choice Awards this weekend in SA as scheduled. It might sound like a whisper but together our voices and the right actions will hopefully make a true difference and real change can begin. But for today, we stand,” he shared.

The xenophobic attacks in South Africa began last Sunday.
The heinous act of the persons involved in the attacks have been condemned by many.
These are two of the many stance taken by entertainers in a reaction against the unfortunate actions.
