Google Doodle celebrates Ghana’s 63rd Independence Day

Google is celebrating Ghana’s 6rd Independence Day with a homepage doodle today [Friday], March 6, 2020.

The Independence Day in Ghana is is a statutory public holiday celebrated by Ghanaians at home and in the Diaspora.

It also marks the declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom by then Prime Minister Dr. Kwame Nkrumah on 6th March 1957.

The doodle comes with the iconic Ghana flag in a semi-circle while “Google” is inscribed below, on a yellow layer.

Ghana is revered as the first sub-Saharan African nation to attain independence.

Today, a number of events are being held across the nation to commemorate this special day. The main or national one will be held in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
