Lord Paper earned a nomination in the Ghana Music Awards 2020, despite hitting the limelight with his controversial single “Awurama”.
There has been a number of counter-accusation against the VGMA Board for nominating the “Asabone” hitmaer in the “Best New Act of the Year” category, of the award scheme.
However, Mr. Robert Klah, the Head of Public Events and Communications of Charterhouse Production, has reacted to this.
According to him, everything has to do with the way the scheme operates and not based on common sense.
He made this known in an interview with Sammy Flex on Zylofon 102.1 FM‘s “Showbiz Agenda” on Tuesday, Match 3, 2020.
“A new artiste doesn’t necessary mean that you started today. Any artiste that breaks into mainstream like you have been there already. In fact, your very final song, when it comes out may not necessary be your first,” he said.
“The question is, are you known to the scheme? For somebody that is yet to be known by the scheme, that is when you consider them in the New Artiste [category],” he added.
It doesn’t mean that the are new to Ghana. The scheme looks at stuffs from the national point of view.
Real name Michael Takyi-Frimpong, he mentioned in a recent interview with Jay Foley that its cool, if the industry is now recognising his efforts.
