Commercializing Ebony's Tribute Concert is Fraud

Musician(s) Right to Charge Performance Fee if There’s Gate Fee

Tribute concerts, all over the world are intended to show gratitude to the lost soul and bereaved family; and late Ebony’s Tribute Concert is no exception.
For such concerts, whatever goes directly into the preparation is not money-oriented, and participants do so out of goodwill.
However, Ricky Osei Agyeman a.k.a Bullet, manager of late Ebony and the RufTown Records/Midas Touch Inc. team have placed an entry fee of GHc10 on the tribute concert and it is totally wrong!
In a situation like this, the team ought to give answers beyond reasonable doubt; as regards, why an entry fee for a tribute concert is being taken, what the proceeds would be used for, who the beneficiaries are, among others.
Like it is done in our part of the world, it won’t be surprising to see the team justify this insensitive act.
Already, I have read a post on Bullet‘s wall in which he alleges that although some musicians are ready to perform at the Friday, March 23 concert for free, others are asking for a fee to be paid before they mount stage to perform.
For Bullet to complain about the action of the musician(s) he is referring to, is palpably unfortunate and I consider it as fraud and an act insensitivity, on the part of the whole management team.
Charging for a concert like this amounts to management taking undue advantage of the current situation and as a result, the musician(s) taking a decision to charge before he/she performs is in its right order.
Ebony died in a motor accident, together with two (2) other occupants — military officer Francis Atsu Vondee as well Franky Kuri on Thursday, February 8, 2018.
The late musician’s funeral will be held at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Saturday, March 24, 2018
