Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) was born on 23rd May 1968 in Ashtown, a suburb of Kumasi; he hails from Pakyi No. 2, all in the Ashanti Region.
EDUCATION
He attended KNUST Primary and later Prempeh College for his middle school. He proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where he read Human Biology and Medicine, for his first degree.
He also attended the Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences for MSc Clinical in 1998.He also studied Leadership and Government at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
CAREER
He served as a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, UK. He is also the CEO of Keyedmap Security services Limited
POLITICS
He is four (4) term MP for Manhyia South (formerly Manhyia) between 2008 and 2020. he has served on the following Committees in Parliament – health, appointments, defense and interior. He is the former Education Minister. He implemented the flagship Free SHS Policy by the Akufo-led NPP government. He is currently the Energy Minister.
