Phil Masinga, former South Africa footballer has passed away, PlugTimes.com can confirm.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Leeds United striker died on Sunday morning.
The legend was well-noted for his goal that secured South Africa’s first FIFA World Cup qualification to France 1998. He also helped South to win the 1996 African Cup of Nations title.
His demise follows a protracted illness.
“Sad day for South African football. A loyal servant of the game, on and off the field of play,” SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan was quoted as saying by Bafana Bafana’s twitter account.
