Ghana’s music industry keeps getting bigger and better each day, with the emergence of record labels developing and/or managing fine talents.
This is what the all new Kapa House Records has set out to execute.
Originally founded by four (4) family members, the record label has opened up about its direction, as far as the mandate is concerned.
Speaking at Mandem‘s music interaction with the press, held on Friday at the Bourbon House Cafe in Labone, one of the directors of the label Mr. Akwasi B. Agyapong disclosed that the team is ready to make positive impact in the music industry. He revealed that Ghanaian afrobeat and dancehall musician Mandem, is the only act they are working with, in the mean time.
He told host Natalia Andoh (of Class 91.3 FM) that it is “not just for Mandem but at the moment, he is our main priority.”
When quizzed about the team’s inspiration to rather invest in music, he reiterated that “we are all very interested in music. Initially, we wanted to do it but we were not too sure, how we wanted to go about it, because we’ve not being in the industry. So we spoke to Greg, we consulted him on how we should go about our activities and help us build Kapa House.”
According to him, the label expects a ‘Discovery of the Year’ nomination for their musician who has songs like ‘So Mu’,‘Bomaye’, and others to his credit.
“Our first expectation is to hit Ghana Music Awards next year with a ‘Discovery of the Year’ nomination,” he mentioned.
Kapa House Records is based in Tema and the name was coined from the initials of its members, namely, Karter, Alonzy, Paul Wall and AQ (all nicknames).
Mandem‘s Music Interaction with Press event was powered by Kapa House Records in collaboration with The Plug.
