Akufo-Addo cuts Sod for Construction of Ghana’s First Creative Arts School

The president of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the construction of the country’s first-ever creative arts school.

Named the Creative Arts Senior High School, it will be situated at Kwadaso in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region.

The full-fledged creative arts school is expected to teach students, the likes of drama, music, and dance.

It forms part of the government’s vision to develop the sector.

Akufo-Addo stated that “we reaffirm our commitment to the growth of the creative arts industry by cutting the sod for the construction of the very first Senior High School in Ghana dedicated solely to the industry.”

“I have every confidence that this school will serve as an important beacon for many young and talented people, seeking a fulfilling career in the creative arts,” he added.

On siting of the school, he noted that “there could be no more fitting place for the siting of the first of many of such edifices than the ancient, vibrant city of Kumasi, famed for its rich pedigree of culture, music, dance, folklore and drama.”

The school will also have assembly hall, dinning hall, residential facilities for both staff, and students alike.

The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by sector Ministers, key personalities in creative arts, and others.

The president also cut the sod for the construction of the the John Agyekum Kufuor Senior High School in Dabaa in the Atwima Nwabiagya North constituency.

He also did same for the construction of a Technical Examination Unit of the College of Technology, Kumasi campus, of the University of Education, Winneba, and inaugurated the Development of Skills for Industry Project (DSIP) facility.
