The Ghanaian inventor outdoored the aeroplane-themed car called ‘Kantanka-MO’ and an armoured car, produced under the model name ‘Kantanka ɔkofoɔ’.
This was made known at the 39th Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana annual technology and agricultural exhibition, held at the Apostle Safo School of Arts and Sciences in Awoshie, a suburb of Accra.
It was held under the theme “Enhancing Sustainable Technology – Agriculture and Culture; the Pathway to Development.”
At the ceremony which took place on Sunday, December 29, 2019, the entrepreneur outlined some of the inventions he has led his workforce to put into effect.
He also admonished Ghanaians to embrace what is Ghanaian, other than foreign stuffs.
“Why allow them to import fishes like tilapia that have been injected with preservatives and you eat that. Do you know the drugs they injected them with?,” he quizzed rhetorically.
The armoured car is bullet-proof; it is fitted with automatic missiles launch box, among other key security features.
Reacting to why the aeroplane-themed car was manufactured, he noted that it has been made for his personal use while adding that he “decided to build a car that no one owns anywhere in the world.”
The car has a luxurious features — including a custom-made white leather seat, LED TV screen, and enough space.
Speaking at the exhibition, the vice president of the Republic of Ghana H.E. Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia eulogised Apostle Safo for attaining such feat in technology.
“What we have seen here today, just an exhibition of some of the innovations of Apostle Kwadwo Safo shows that technology is the key to development, and a black man can lead technological development in the world.”
The cars were manufactured by the Kantanka Automobile Company Limited, a subsidiary of the Kantanka Group of Companies.
Some of the company’s car models include the Kantanka Nkunimdie SUV, Kantanka Onantefo 4×4 pickup/SUV, Kantanka Opasuo, Otumfuo SUV, and Kantanka Mensah.
