Are the Beckhams Selling Their English Estate?

David and Victoria BeckhamA lot’s changed for the Beckham family over the last few months. Soccer pro patriarch David left the L.A. Galaxy at the end of last year and announced in January he’ll be heading back to Europe after signing a five-month deal to join French team Paris St. Germain. While it’s unclear if David, wife Victoria, and their four children will hang on to their 22,000-square-foot Beverly Hills home, they’re reportedly letting go of their 22-acre English country estate, dubbed “Beckingham Palace” by the press.

The couple bought the mansion in Hertfordshire, England, back in 1999 for just 2.5 million British Pounds and it’s reportedly worth more than four times that amount today, about $16.75 million. The seven-bedroom Georgian-style manor, built in the 1930s, includes a gym, recording studio, billiards room, tennis court, and multiple outdoor swimming pools … providing what we’ll assume is a slightly different experience from what the original owners got.

Since heading back across the pond, the Beckhams have been spending more time at their rented London home and less in Hertfordshire and thus don’t need it anymore. (A rep for David Beckham didn’t immediately respond to a request for confirmation) But, according to a source quoted by the Daily Mail ,the family doesn’t want to sell to just anyone, and is hoping to find a private buyer who keeps the estate intact, rather than a developer who might turn the property into luxury apartments.

So the bad news is, if you were hoping reside in Posh and Becks’ old digs you’re going to have to spring for the whole shebang. The good news? You’ll have the whole place to yourself.
