J. Cole Apologises for Offensive Autism Lyric

J ColeAmerican rapper, J Cole has apologized for the controversial autism lyric stating that it is offensive to people living with the sickness.

The song which was a collaboration between him and Drake which featured on the latter’s Jodeci Freestyle.

In a blog post over the weekend he said the lyric of the song is “highly offensive to people with autism.”

This issues cropped up when he said in a line of the song that, “I’m aritistic, you niggas is autistic, retarded.”

He has however admitted how sorry he is and acknowledges he should have known better.

“Last week, when I first saw a comment from someone outraged about the lyric, I realized right away that what I said was wrong,” he wrote in the blog. “I was instantly embarrassed that I would be ignorant enough say something so hurtful. What makes the crime worse is that I should have known better,” he added.

He also pardoned patients and parents to accept his apology over the controversial lyrics of the song.

“To the parents who are fighting through the frustrations that must come with raising a child with severe autism, finding strength and patience that they never knew they had; to the college student with Asperger’s syndrome; to all those overcoming autism, you deserve medals, not disrespect,” he wrote. “I hope you accept my sincere apology.”

Cole is not the only rapper who has been in this situation before, the likes of Lil Wayne and Rick Ross have all been victims of using such abusive choice of words in songs.
