According to him it was a 60%-40% agreement where the record label takes the larger percentage.
However, he has delved a bit deeper into the contractual agreement stating that, before the ‘Maame Hwe’ hitmaker receives her 40% share after a gig, 50% of the gross goes to an anonymous investor.
“Aside the contract that Nanahemaa [Ebony] had 40%, there was a contract which saw that another 50% goes to an anonymous investor. So at the end of the day, if a show is played and the amount accrued is Ghc30,000, Ghc15,000 goes somewhere Ebony knows nothing about. Whereas the remaining Ghc15,000 is split 60%-40%,” he said.
Starboy Kwarteng made this revelation in an exclusive interview with Dr Cann on Accra-based Happy 89.9 FM‘s ‘Showbiz Agenda’ on Saturday morning.
Asked whether he feels her daughter was cheated, he could not emphatically make his thoughts know but noted that “your guess is as good as mine”.
“Well, per the contract I witnessed and signed, I can state that clause was not part so when it came in later, I called Bullet and questioned him about it,” he stated.
Starboy Kwarteng also recounted how Ebony alerted him about what is happening at the label, with respect to some contractual adjustments.
The owner of Bony To The World Records also added that all efforts to get access to the seeming contractual changes from Bullet proved futile.
Recently, he mentioned that he has not heard RuffTown Records act Wendy Shay‘s songs before.
