GBC declares Unfair Treatment after GFA awarded Ghana Premier League & FA Cup TV Rights to StarTimes

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBA) has described as unfair and unjust, Ghana Football Association (GFA’s) decision to hand the TV broadcasting rights to StarTimes.

This comes, a day after the country’s football governing body GFA announced StarTimes as the TV rights owner for the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup, in a five (5) deal.

According to the national broadcaster, it made a better financial offer of $1,100,000 per annum, as against the Chinese media company $1,050,000 for the same period.

This was communicated in a statement dated 9th January 2020, signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Ms Mamle Asare, and copied to PlugTimes.com.

GBC also added that, aside the financial offer which was a cut above that of StarTimes, it has the capacity to broadcast the competitions, like it did by showing two (2) matches simultaneously during the NC Special Competition, both on GTV and GTV Sports+.
