Most Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall Musicians are Not Fluent in Patois

Patois has always been associated with reggae/dancehall music and as a result, a musician who is in the genre and speaks the language fluently is hold in high esteem.

Stonebwoy has also noted that most of the musicians in the genre in Ghana are not fluent.

He made this known in an exclusive interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay 101.7 FM ahead of the upcoming ‘Ashaiman To Da World’ concert.

He mentioned that there are musicians in Ghana who are not fluent in Patois.

Stonebwoy who refused to mention any name added that “we are still learning but if you check mine, you will realise that I am fluent now.”

The Zylofon Music act also noted that singing in Patois does not necessarily and/or automatically make one a reggae/dancehall musician, however, it qualifies you more.

Stonebwoy‘s ‘Ashaiman To Da World’ concert is set to gather some of the biggest Ghanaian musicians — the include, but not limited to Sarkodie, and Samini.

In a related development, he also revealed that Kojo Antwi, one of the people he looks up to, is set to release a new single which features him.,
