Ghanaian alternative rock band Dark Suburb has not been heard of, for some time now.

The band has come out to say that their brand took a quick dive after Prophet Daniel Asamoah-Larbi tagged them as demonic and occult members.

The masked band mentioned in an interview on Accra-based Joy 99.7 FM that the prophet’s comment came a day after their remarkable performance on the 2015 VGMAs stage.

“VGMA was the biggest platform we performed on and the following day a pastor said he felt demons on stage, and that more or less, we are demons just because of our look,” a member said.

Asked whether it has really affected them, the group said yes it has. However, they noted that Dark Suburb is made up of demons but entertainers.

“It affected our brand a lot, people started seeing us demons, and we had to go back and try to rebrand. We are not demons, we are just entertainers,” the band added.

Dark Suburb started gaining attention in 2014, following their breathtaking performances at concerts across the country.

Their hard work won them the VGMA 2015 ‘Unsung Category’, and went on to perform with the likes of Stonebwoy, Tic, Tinny, Samini, Patoranking, The Composers, Wiyaala, Daddy Lumba, and No Tribe.

Their EP and album ‘The Awakening’, and ‘The Start Looks Like The End’ were released in 2014 and 2017, respectively.

Dark Suburb has songs like ‘I Dey Love You Die’,’Mama’, and ‘Ego Be’ to their credit.
