Music Council of Ghana to Unite Music Unions

Ekow Micah (Ghana Music Council)The Music Council of Ghana (MCG) has announced that it will be meeting all the various music unions in the country that registered under their umbrella.

This has become necessary following the association’s desire to ensure unity and harmony among the various groups.

The event which will be held at the Royal Richester Hotel in Accra on Thursday, June 27 will witness lots of major players in the Ghanaian music industry including musicians, producers, distributors, managers, dancers among others.

Members of this association which include the Association of Music Right Organization (AMRO), Professional Musicians Association of Ghana (PROMAG), Veteran Musicians Association (VEMA), Ghana Music Rights Owners (GHAMRO), Ghana Association of Audio and Audio-Visual Distributors (GAAD), Musicians and Dancers Association, and Copyright office of Ghana (COPYGHANA) whiles MUSIGA and GAPI are yet to bring their representatives on board.

This meeting is in line with the directive from the International Music Council (IMC) in Paris, France which MCG is a signatory.

The council was launched in May 2011 as an artistic and cultural movement to strengthen music and its stakeholders in Ghana through raising the level of consciousness, value and dignity of the society.
